Safari Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi Kenya
Met on arrival by our representative and transfer to the newly refurbished Nairobi Serena Hotel, where you have been booked on bed and breakfast for the night.
The flagship of Serena Hotels is newly refurbished with renovated guest rooms, new facilities including the Premium Lounge, Banqueting and Meeting rooms and a new Asian fusion restaurant, Herbs & Spices Restaurant by Nairobi Serena Hotel that is an addition to the elegant Mandhari Restaurant for fine dining and the Café Maghreb, the all-day restaurant. Other facilities include the Maisha (which means 'life' in Swahili) Health Club and Spa, and Aksum, the Ethiopian themed bar.
The hotel is well known for preserving the rich Pan-African inspired culture expressed through its interiors and unique décor accents.

Day 2 – Drive from Nairobi to Tsavo West National Park
Breakfast at the hotel - 08:00hrs: After a pre-safari briefing and introduction to your dedicated safari driver guide, depart and drive to Tsavo West National Park. Upon entry into the park, enjoy a game viewing drive en route to the Lodge to arrive in the early afternoon for check-in followed by lunch.
Superbly situated in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro and sheltered by the volcanic splendor of the Chyulu Hills, this classic stone-built lodge overlooks its own water hole, which is visited daily by elephants, buffalos and a wide variety of plains game.
One of the first lodges ever to be built in a national park, the lodge is cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-viewing, photography and painting. It is also ideally placed for visits to all the park's prime attractions.
Lunch in the lodge followed by free time at the lodge.
Afternoon game viewing drives in the park. Tsavo West National Park offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world with large herds of dusty-red elephants, hippopotamus, giant crocodiles, black rhinoceros and African buffalos. The park also has the lion, the cheetah, the leopard. The "big five" can be seen in Tsavo. Birdlife is abundant as more than 600 species of bird have been recorded.

Day 3 – Tsavo West National Park
Full day in Tsavo with morning and afternoon game viewing drives. The Park offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world with large herds of dusty-red elephants, hippopotamus, giant crocodiles, black rhinoceros and African buffalos. The park also has the lion, the cheetah, and leopard.
The "big five" can be seen in Tsavo. Other animals commonly seen in the park are the zebra, the antelopes and gazelles, the mongoose, the hyrax, the dik-dik and the lesser kudu. Birdlife is abundant as more than 600 species of bird have been recorded.
Some of the interesting areas to be visited are the Mzima springs, Roaring rocks, Chaimu and Shetani Lava sites to mention a few.

Day 4 – Tsavo West to Amboseli National Park
Breakfast at the lodge - 08:00hrs: Depart and drive to Amboseli National Park to arrive in the early afternoon for check-in at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.
Set against the magnificent backdrop of Africa's highest mountain, the glittering Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge enjoys a uniquely privileged position at the heart of this world-famous national park. Shaded by palm trees, is a free-form swimming pool; to either side of which stretch the rooms.
Lunch at the lodge followed by an afternoon at leisure to relax and soak-in magnificent views of the park from your room Veranda/Lounge or enjoy a swim in the lodge’s heated swimming pool.
Enjoy afternoon game-viewing drives in the park before driving back to the lodge in time to refresh for dinner.

Day 5 – Amboseli National Park
A full day in the park with morning and afternoon game drives at 06:30hrs and 16:00hrs respectively.
Amboseli is one of the most popular destinations for safari-goers to Kenya, but it also offers some spectacular views of the highest free-standing mountain in the world - Mount Kilimanjaro. Elephants are a dominant presence in Amboseli; they are tracked almost constantly by researchers thus, the reason they have largely escaped the ravages of 1980s poaching. Here, you are able to spot some of the older “tuskers” lumbering almost delicately before the backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
This evening you will be hosted to a "Bush Barbeque Dinner" with traditional Maasai dancers.

Day 6 - Amboseli to Soysambu Conservancy/ Lake Elmenteita
Breakfast in the lodge, check out and drive towards Nairobi down the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley. Your driver guide will stop at strategic viewpoints for photography where you will come out and view the escarpment and take photos. Drive on to Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp in the Soysambu Wildlife Conservancy to arrive in the early afternoon for check-in and lunch.
Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp - "Where history meets the wild kingdom"
Uniquely situated on the shoreline of sapphire-blue Lake Elmenteita where hundreds of thousands of birds congregate, is the small and exclusive camp. This area of breathtaking beauty is also home to many rare species of animals. Time at leisure to relax and enjoy a swim in the camp's infinity pool overlooking the lake.
Set off for an afternoon game viewing drive or opt for an escorted nature walk in the conservancy. The conservancy protects over 450 bird species and 15,000 wild animals. Rothchild giraffes have found a haven for breeding here, while a diverse variety of terrain shelters many species - from herds of giant elands to tiny dik-diks and cliff-dwelling klipspringers.

Day 7 - Soysambu Wildlife Conservancy/ Lake Elmenteita to Masai Mara
Breakfast at the camp and an early start for Masai Mara Game Reserve to arrive at your lodge destination, Mara Serena Safari Lodge in the early afternoon for check-in.
Perched on the saddle of a hill, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge has one of the most spectacular views imaginable across the vast plains, forests and rivers that make up the Masai Mara – one of the world’s richest wildlife sanctuaries. The lodge has recently undergone a refurbishment and new facilities in operation include a new reception, bar lounge, an arrival lobby area and a gift shop.
A Serena Maisha Health Club and Spa featuring an exciting spa menu, steam, sauna and gymnasium is also now open – an opportunity to have an experience of tranquillity and good health whilst on safari. There is a heated swimming pool and the new terrace gives you an opportunity to enjoy the sweeping views of the of the expansive Masai Mara plains. The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions - particularly the superb black manned males. You'll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as - if you're lucky - leopard, cheetah, and rhino. All the Big Five are residents. You're sure to see the African buffalo. Day 8 – Masai Mara
A day in the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives in the Reserve at 06:30hrs and 16:00hrs respectively. Certainly, the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, Maasai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries and punctuated by marshes and forests.
This 650 sq kilometre reserve supports the highest density of game to be seen anywhere considering its size. During the seasonal migrations, Maasai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebra that move into the area from neighbouring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania.
Hippo Pool Breakfast
This morning, crown your game viewing experience with a “Bush Breakfast” by the Mara River Hippo Pools! One cannot resist the charming “Jambo” from the chefs and Masai warriors as they welcome you to our wonderfully set breakfast buffet of cold cuts, fruits, cereals and hot dishes with eggs made to your specifications as you wait. The hippos keep you company and only say “Kwaheri” (goodbye) after you have had enough.

Day 9 – Drive to Nairobi & Departure
Breakfast at the lodge and a drive back to Nairobi to arrive at Nairobi Serena Hotel for a farewell lunch in Herbs & Spices Restaurant by Nairobi Serena compliment of Serena Hotels. Later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your home bound flight.
